A Story of Rejection, Rebellion, and Redemption
Jesse Smith—true West Virginia mountain man, barroom brawler, participant in organized crime, outdoorsman extraordinaire, hunting and fishing guide, and, ultimately, preacher—grew up in Prince, on the banks of the New River. Although exposed to church life in childhood, unfortunate circumstances and bad choices led Smith along an almost incomprehensibly dark path with incredible twists and turns. Although this is a story of one young man’s descent into violent anti-social behavior, despair, and self- destructive tendencies, it is ultimately a story of redemption—a narrative of God’s grace, forgiveness, and acceptance. It is a testimony of the depth of God’s love and mercy, about the far reaches of His call, and about the miraculous change He is able to make in a single life for the sake of saving many.
